Leading up to the 19th annual Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), Las Vegas, Insomniac has created a video entitled “#WeAreWideAwake,” aimed at encouraging everyone in the dance music community to look out for one another and help keep live events safe. The video marks the launch of the company’s #WeAreWideAwake initiative, aimed at inspiring awareness of personal and communal health and safety.
The video (see below) features the Insomniac team and top artists including 12th Planet, Afrojack, Arty, Carl Cox, Crizzly, Firebeatz, Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens, Laidback Luke, and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Robert and Linell Shapiro of the Brent Shapiro Foundation for Drug and Alcohol Awareness also speak out on behalf of their son Brent, who was lost to a drug and alcohol overdose in 2005. The Shapiros created the foundation that same year in honor of their son.
“As event producers, it is our duty to ensure the health, happiness and well-being of everyone who attends our shows,” said Pasquale Rotella, the founder and CEO of Insomniac. “As human beings, we owe it our fellow brothers and sisters to simply look out for one another.”
