Looking for a tasty way to combat summer’s scorching triple-digit temps? Then cool off with an ice-cold treat. Las Vegas is home to some of the desert’s best frozen drinks and desserts, so next time you want to drop your body heat, try one of these chilly concoctions.
Best Alcoholic Assortment:
Burger Bar — at Mandalay Place
3930 Las Vegas Blvd S
Las Vegas, NV 89119
Hubert Keller’s popular burger joint is also home to some of the tastiest frozen drinks on the Strip. In addition to a selection of non-alcoholic chef’s milkshakes like the Caramel Latte — coffee ice cream mixed with caramel syrup, graham crackers and butterscotch morsels — the casual eatery features a menu of alcoholic milkshakes and beer floats for adults to enjoy. Guests can choose from such yummy flavors as the Mint Chocolate Chips — mint chocolate chip ice cream blended with mint liquor and topped with chocolate whipped cream and an Oreo cookie — or the Raspberry Velvet — berry beer topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. If you want to really put this restaurant to the test, order the Burger Bar Classic Beer Float Paddle: a sampler of five different beer floats.
Best Tequila Treats:
Diego — at MGM Grand
3799 S Las Vegas Blvd
Las Vegas, NV 89109
This bold Mexican favorite happens to serve two of the city’s most sinfully delicious frozen treats. The first is an adult spin on a childhood classic — tequila popsicles. Guests can choose from Diego’s margarita or strawberry margarita tequila popsicles, which they can enjoy in the dining room or at the bar. The popular Mexican restaurant also serves Tequila Sorbet Shooters: tequila served neat with a scoop of sorbet. Flavors include strawberry, lime and mango-jalapeño for those who want a refreshing drink that also has a bit of a kick to it.
Best Frozen Yogurt:
I Love Yogurt
11700 W Charleston Blvd, Suite 120
Las Vegas, NV 89135
Not your typical frozen yogurt shop, I Love Yogurt playfully transports guests back to the ’80s. Featuring ’80’s memorabilia throughout the shop and more than 60 classic arcade games guests can play like Frogger, Pac-Man and Centipede, I Love Yogurt is that rare self-serve frozen yogurt shop people actually stay to eat at. In addition to serving such fun flavors as peanut butter cup and strawberry shortcake, I Love Yogurt offers a selection of classic childhood candies, cereals and sodas for guests to enjoy. There’s also an assortment of frozen yogurt toppings to choose from including fresh, not frozen, fruit. For those who live in Anthem and Centennial, shops are currently under construction, so no matter where you’re located, soon you won’t have to travel far for a blast back to the ’80s.
Best Frozen Custard:
Luv-It Frozen Custard
505 E Oakey Blvd
Las Vegas, NV 89104
Founded in 1973, Luv-It Frozen Custard is one of Las Vegas’ coolest dessert spots. The award-winning frozen custard stand offers approximately 36 flavors including butter pecan, lemon and fresh banana nut. Flavors change daily, giving regulars something new to enjoy with each visit. Although the Western Sundae remains to be Luv-It’s most popular specialty-menu item — frozen custard topped with hot fudge, hot caramel and salted pecans — the Sprinkle Special deserves a shot as well: frozen custard topped with marshmallows, jimmies and peanuts. For a more unique treat, try one of Luv-It’s chocolate-covered frozen bananas.
Best Frozen Hot Chocolate:
Sugar Factory American Brasserie — at Paris Las Vegas
3655 S Las Vegas Blvd
Las Vegas, NV 89109
Known for its decadent desserts, Sugar Factory American Brasserie is sure to have something to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth 24 hours a day, from oversized ice cream sundaes to milkshakes and malts. However, its Classic Frozen Hot Chocolate is especially divine. Available in three flavors, including White Chocolate Raspberry — melted white chocolate, freeze-dried raspberries, white chocolate shavings, whipped cream and raspberry syrup — one sip and taste buds won’t be able to get enough.
