You know it the minute you visit a new city: You’re either in a “happy hour town” or you’re not. San Francisco? Miami? Dallas? Absolutely. Los Angeles? Not so much. But Sin City does happy hour proud with such focused intensity that Las Vegas’ best spots even rival the city’s legendary pool parties. And if you’ve been to any of the Strip’s pool parties, that’s sayin’ somethin’. — Marco Medrano

Blue Martini

Las Vegas, NV 89119
(702) 949-2583

Hands down, the sexiest locals frequent this inviting bar situated just a short hop off the Strip inside Town Square. Blue Martini is always busy, and if a bar could be smiling at its nightly happy hour, from 4 to 8 p.m. here, this would be it. Everyone’s in a perpetual good mood in this dimly-lit, must-go lounge, particularly on the shoulder-to-shoulder boozy chaos that Wednesdays have become. F-U-N. Hours: Monday to Thursday, 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.; Friday, 4 p.m. to 4 a.m.; Saturday, noon to 4 a.m.; Sunday, noon to 3 a.m.

Firefly On Paradise

3900 Paradise Road
Las Vegas, NV 89169
(702) 369-3971

Viva España! This may be the planet’s best happy hour bar: amazing tapas (yum!), flavored Cuban mojitos, pitchers (and pitchers) of sangria and a great, festive crowd. The prices don’t break the bank, either. It all equals one hell of a happy, er, ecstatic hour for sure. Hours: daily, 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Yard House

6593 Las Vegas Boulevard South
Las Vegas, NV 89119
(702) 734-9273
www.yardhouse.com

Isn’t it strange that Town Square has emerged as the epicenter of Las Vegas’ happy hour scene? Not to be outdone by its slicker neighbor, Blue Martini, Yard House brings its casual game, big time. With more than 160 beers from which to choose, you and your air guitar will be jammin’ to loud classic rock while chatting up the mostly local crowd. Doesn’t it just sound like a great time? Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1:15 a.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1:45 a.m.

Pink Taco

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
4455 Paradise Road
Las Vegas, NV 89169
(702) 693-5525
www.hardrockhotel.com

This is the place to go if your idea of happy hour involves where to go to be seen, Hollywood style, in an ultra hip spot with the latest drinks and well moisturized crowd. If you squint even a little, you’re bound to see a Kardashian or two. The food’s great, too, a sort of Cali play on tasty Mexican fare. Dress for the night and go be your fabulous self. Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to midnight.

Coyote Ugly

New York-New York Hotel and Casino
3790 Las Vegas Boulevard South
Las Vegas, NV 89109
(702) 740-3660
www.coyoteuglysaloon.com

The greatest things about this Las Vegas staple inside New York-New York are: 1. lots of bar dancing (yes, on top of the bar); 2. no dress code to speak of (casual for sure); 3. the only real juke joint on the Strip (sawdust on the floor); and 4. stumbling distance to your hotel. And, by the way, there’s nothing ugly about this crowd. Hours: daily, 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.
