Melissa Duran has been calling Las Vegas home since 2006, when she moved here as a reporter/anchor for KLAS-TV. A proud University of Texas at Austin graduate, she got her start in the news business in 2001 as a general assignments reporter for her hometown of El Paso, Texas. She worked her way up to weekend anchor before eventually moving to Las Vegas to work for the CBS affiliate.
Melissa has covered a wide array of news stories including the return of Ft. Bliss Prisoners of War, one-on-one interviews with President Barack Obama, and Mexico’s drug cartels. In 2006, she received an Associated Press award for Best Investigative Report, after reuniting a man with a baby boy, now a young man, who he found in a dumpster behind his bakery.
In her spare time, she loves to box and just recently started CrossFit. She’s happy and proud to be part of the KXNT News team!
