Flood Warning in Northeast Nevada; New Foot of Sierra Snow

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A flood warning remains in effect across much of northeast Nevada but a winter weather advisory has expired at Lake Tahoe after another foot of snow fell on parts of the Sierra.

The National Weather Service said Monday flood waters from the Humboldt River will gradually recede this week after cresting about a foot above flood stage in Battle Mountain Sunday night. The river is expected to remain about 1.5 feet above flood stage through Wednesday in the Humboldt County mining town of Comus about 30 miles east of Winnemucca.

Winds gusting in excess of 100 mph accompanied the latest round of Sierra snow Sunday night and Monday. The service says a 132 mph gust was recorded Sunday at the top of Alpine Meadows ski resort on Tahoe’s west shore. Homewood ski resort got 14 inches of new snow.
