LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – Investigators say a fight between a couple inside their car in the northeast Las Vegas valley Sunday ended when the woman shot and killed her boyfriend before calling police, according to authorities.

Officers were alerted after Cheryl Rheamount knocked on the door of an apartment near East Lake Mead Boulevard and Marion Drive around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, a Las Vegas Metro Police statement reported.

Rheamount, 35, asked the resident to call the police because she had just shot her boyfriend. Officers following Rheamount’s instructions found the man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a car parked in a desert area near the intersection of East Judson Avenue and Dolly Lane. The victim was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The man’s identity was not immediately released pending family notification.

LVMPD Homicide Section detectives determined that Rheamount and the victim had been dating and got into an argument inside the vehicle when Rheamount shot him.

Rheamount was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one court of murder.

The killing was the 152nd homicide investigated by LVMPD detectives in 2016.
