Vegas Armed Robber Get 25 Years in Prison

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 24-year-old Nevada man who admitted robbing six convenience stores in Las Vegas and shooting a man after one of the holdups has been sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.

Federal prosecutors say Paul Loisel of Las Vegas threatened employees with a .45 caliber handgun during most of the armed robberies last November and December.

During one, he attempted to open the cash register himself because the cashier was outside the store with her boyfriend.

Authorities say the boyfriend pointed a shotgun at Loisel when he exited. Loisel then shot the boyfriend in the chest, critically wounding him.

Loisel pleaded guilty in August to five counts of interference with commerce by robbery and one count of discharge of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Judge Andrew Gordon sentenced him Wednesday.
