LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas man has been found guilty in the fatal shooting of a marijuana supplier during a drug deal.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that prosecutors say drug dealer Luciano Madrigal-Herrera was shot in 2013 while trying to sell 20 pounds of marijuana in North Las Vegas.
The Nevada U.S. attorney’s office says a federal jury on Wednesday convicted 35-year-old Louis Matthews of using a firearm during a drug trafficking crime resulting in death and conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to distribute.
Matthews’ co-defendant, 25-year-old John Thomas, pleaded guilty to the same charges in the 2013 shooting. A third defendant, 28-year-old Julio Nunez, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and discharging a weapon during a drug trafficking crime.
All three of the men are awaiting sentencing.
A fourth defendant is waiting to be tried.
