GEORGE NOORY IN LAS VEGAS: Get tickets now -- be there June 9!

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A pedestrian has died after being struck by a pickup trick in North Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that Las Vegas police say the 65-year-old man was struck Thursday evening around 7:20 p.m. when walking outside a designated crossing area at East Lake Mead Boulevard just west of North Pecos Road. The man was critically injured and died at University Medical Center.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and that impairment and speed were not factors in the crash.

Police say crosswalks are there for pedestrian safety and are stressing the importance of using them.
