HENDERSON, NV (KXNT) – Henderson firefighters were able to save an unconscious pitbull overcome by smoke as they put down a residential house fire Wednesday morning.
Henderson Fire crews were called out to the blaze at the home on the 1000 block of Timberline Court near East Lake Mead Parkway and East Springs Road around 11 a.m. Wednesday following a 911 call placed by a passerby, a Henderson city statement reported.
Heavy smoke and fire were billowing out of a side window from the one-story single family home as firefighters arrived. Teams went through the front door and quickly located and extinguished the fire, containing the flames to two interior rooms.
As they entered, firefighters also discovered the 100-pound pitbull unresponsive by the front door. Pulling the animal to safety outside, firefighters were able to use a specialized pet oxygen mask to successfully revive the dog. Animal control personnel transported the animal in good condition to a veterinarian for further evaluation.
Two adults and a child were displaced by the fire damage, estimated at around $90,000. No one was home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, but may be electrical in nature.
