LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Australian-born 13th Duke of Manchester is getting a chance from another Las Vegas judge to resolve a felony case through negotiations before a preliminary hearing of evidence against him.

A justice of the peace on Wednesday became the second local judge in two days to reset a court date for Alexander Montagu-Manchester for late September.

Montagu-Manchester is also due back in court Thursday on a misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol charge.

He remains jailed following his Aug. 12 arrest on a felony false police report charge that a judge said Tuesday violated terms of his release on a previous burglary charge.

In a jail interview on Tuesday, Montagu-Manchester denied committing any crimes.

He says he has Australian and British citizenship, and he has lived as a permanent resident in the United States since the mid-1960s.
