LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – Police investigators are seeking a person of interest caught on surveillance video with a Las Vegas woman found murdered in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area last month, authorities said.

Las Vegas Metro Police detectives want to find and identify the man seen with Kathleen Ploutz the night before her body was found near Special Events Beach at Boulder Basin on Lake Mead July 18, a Las Vegas police statement reported.

Ploutz, 61, suffered multiple stab wounds during her attack.

Investigators said the person of interest could only be described as an adult male who was seen on surveillance video at the victim’s apartment on the 400 block of Sierra Vista Drive around 9 p.m. on July 17. In the video, the man can be seen walking with Ploutz. The man was driving an unknown make or model SUV.

Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the person of interest as well as anyone with knowledge of Ploutz’s activities in the days leading up to her death were asked to call the LVMPD Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or via email at
