GEORGE NOORY IN LAS VEGAS: Get tickets now -- be there June 9!

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Republican operative says he made a mistake by asking potential sponsors of a forthcoming Donald Trump fundraiser at Lake Tahoe to make checks out to a PAC and not the state party.

George Harris said Friday that his solicitation letter dated Aug. 10 shouldn’t have been on Nevada Republican Party letterhead while requesting checks be made out to an independent group called Alpha PAC with links to the state party chairman.

The letter was first reported by political journalist Jon Ralston.

Harris provided a copy of a partially redacted email timestamped later on Aug. 10 that indicates he corrected himself and redirected checks to the state party.

Nevada GOP vice chairman Jim DeGraffenreid asked Alpha PAC on Aug. 13 to cease communications suggesting the two organizations were jointly fundraising.
