HENDERSON, NV (KXNT) – A California high school athletic director was arrested and faces multiple charges of statutory sexual seduction after he was found in Henderson with a 15-year-old student who ran away from home last month, according to authorities.

Juan Ivan Barajas of San Gabriel, Calif. was arrested after he and the teenage girl were spotted in a parked car on E. Galleria Drive in Henderson around noon Tuesday, a Henderson police statement reported.

Investigators said Barajas, 36, drove away when he saw the officer, who ran the license plate of the black Lexus to find an alert that a possible runaway could be in the car with Barajas.

The officer stopped the car and found the teen inside.

Barajas was arrested and booked into the Henderson Detention Center on six counts of statutory sexual seduction.

Barajas is the athletic director at San Gabriel Mission High School, where the 15-year-old was a student. Investigators said the pair had been involved in a sexual relationship since May. The girl was reported missing on July 29.

The teen told detectives the relationship was consensual. She was expected to be reunited with her parents and returned to California Wednesday.
