HENDERSON, NV (KXNT) – A Henderson man faces murder charges after shooting his wife inside their Henderson, then calling 911 to confess to the crime, according to authorities.

Police took Dennis Kopp into custody at the home on the 1700 block of Sequoia Drive, between Arroyo Grande Boulevard and Valle Verde Drive near Warm Springs Road around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, a Henderson police statement reported.

Kopp called 911, telling a dispatcher he had just shot his wife inside their home. Kopp remained on the phone with 911 until officers arrived and found the man’s wife in a spare bedroom with a gunshot wound. The woman was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Her name was not immediately released pending family notification.

Authorities did not comment on a motive behind the killing. The handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was also recovered inside the home.

Kopp was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on one count of murder.

The killing was the sixth homicide reported in Henderson in 2016.
