UPDATE: The woman was taken into custody around 10:45 a.m. and traffic was expected to be reopened across the bridge shortly, according to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – All traffic across the Hoover Dam bypass bridge has been stopped while police attempt to stop a woman from jumping off the dam.
Las Vegas Police crisis intervention negotiators arrived at the Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge around 6 a.m. Tuesday and were talking with the distraught woman.
Authorities have requested that helicopters stay out of the area as they have impeded officers’ ability to communicate with the woman.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is advising motorists find alternate routes to the bridge, which carries U.S. 93 over the Colorado River between Nevada and Arizona.
