LAS VEGAS (CBS Las Vegas) — While Fox has yet to announce the “frontman” to fill the lead role for its Rocky Horror reboot, the “Rocky Horror Picture Show Event,” we’ve learned the job actually goes to (drum roll) — transgender actress LaVerne Cox!
According to SRO Media in Las Vegas, the “Orange is the New Black” star officially signed the deal. She will play the role of transvestite scientist “Dr. Frank N. Furter” in the remake celebrating the flick’s 40th anniversary.
Cox made history earlier this year when she became the first transgender actress to be nominated for an Emmy for her guest role on the popular Netflix series.
Back in April, TV Insider put her on a short list that included Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum as potentials for the part that Tim Curry brought to life back in 1975.
