CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers and elected officials are recognizing two police officers who were ambushed and killed last year while eating lunch in Las Vegas.

Officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo were recognized in an annual law enforcement memorial ceremony held Thursday at the Capitol grounds in Carson City.

The two were killed at a Las Vegas restaurant on June 8, 2014, when they were attacked by a couple who later died after a shootout with police at a nearby Wal-Mart.

The 18th annual ceremony honors the 128 Nevada peace officers who have been killed in the line of duty since 1861.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Congressional Rep. Mark Amodei spoke at the event and thanked the families of Beck and Soldo for their service.
