(Las Vegas, NV) — Screen legend Lauren Bacall has died of a massive stroke at age 89.
Family sources say she passed away Tuesday.
The actress, known for her husky voice and sultry looks starred in more than 50 films during her career, which began in 1944. Bacall was also a stage actress and model.
She was married to actor Humphrey Bogart, 25 years her senior, from 1945 until his death in 1957. Her second marriage was to actor Jason Robards from 1961 to 1969.
Bacall won numerous awards, including Tonys and Golden Globes. Although she never won an Academy Award, she was presented the Academy Honorary Award in 2009 “in recognition of her central place in the Golden Age of motion pictures.”
