Event At Busy Intersection Draws Attention To Traffic Problem

( Las Vegas, NV ) – Trying to prevent car crashes is a top for priority not only for Metro Police, but  also several organizations that have banded together for an attention-getting event at a busy valley intersection.

Police along with representatives from Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Center as well as the Safe Kids Clark County organization gathered at the corner of Maryland Parkway and Flamingo at the start of Wednesday morning’s rush hour.

In addition to officers pulling red light runners over and giving them tickets, it was hard to miss participants in bright orange t-shirts holding colorful signs with slogans like “Use your head, stop on red.”

A nurse from the hospital, Jeannie Marcellus, says they’ve counted as many as 9 red light runners in an hour at the intersection near the UNLV campus.
