(Los Angeles, CA) — Television is getting ready for its biggest award night with the announcement of nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards. Emmy Awards voters have picked “True Detective,” “Mad Men,” “House of Cards,” “Game of Thrones,” “Downton Abbey” and “Breaking Bad” as this year’s nominees in the Best Drama category. In the Lead Actor category, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson of “True Detective,” Kevin Spacey of “House of Cards,” Jon Hamm of “Mad Men,” Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad,” and Jeff Daniels of “The Newsroom” all received nominations. In the Lead Actress category, Juliana Margulies of “The Good Wife,” Claire Danes of “Homeland,” Michelle Dockery of “Downton Abbey,” Lizzy Caplan of “Masters of Sex,” Kerry Washington of “Scandal” and Robin Wright of “House of Cards” were named by Emmy voters.

In the Best Comedy category, “The Big Bang Theory,” “Veep,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Modern Family,” “Louie” and “Silicon Valley” are this year’s nominees. In the Lead Actor category, Jim Parsons of “The Big Bang Theory,” Ricky Gervais of “Derek,” William H. Macy of “Shameless,” Matt LeBlanc of “Episodes,” Louie C.K. of “Louie,” and Don Cheadle of “House of Lies” all received nominations. In the Lead Actress category, Melissa McCarthy of “Mike and Molly,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus of “Veep,” Lena Dunham of “Girls,” Edie Falco of “Nurse Jackie,” Amy Poehler of “Parks and Recreation,” and Taylor Schilling of “Orange is the New Black” were named by Emmy voters.

The trophies themselves will be handed out on August 25th during the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater. Seth Meyers will host the event, which will air live coast-to-coast starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on NBC.
