Elon Musk: I’m Worried About ‘Terminator’-Like Artificial Intelligence
LAS VEGAS (CBS Las Vegas) – When one of the top investors in artificial intelligence worries about a Skynet-type computer system taking over the world, maybe we should listen.
Elon Musk, the man behind the Tesla electric cars, issued such a warning during an interview with CNBC.
“There have been movies about this, you know, like ‘Terminator,'” he said. “There are some scary outcomes. And we should try to make sure the outcomes are good, not bad.”
When asked why he was investing in AI developer Vicarious, Musk replied that he is trying to keep tabs on how the programs are designed. “I like to just keep an eye on what’s going on with artificial intelligence. I think there is potentially a dangerous outcome there.”
