RENO, Nev. (AP) — Seven Nevada law officers were involved in the gun battle that killed a suspect in a double-homicide south of Reno, but authorities are releasing few other details.
Reno police said Tuesday they’re searching for witnesses to Friday night’s high-speed chase on U.S. Highway 50 that ended when the suspect was shot multiple times at the Sand Mountain Recreation Area east of Fallon.
No officers were hurt in the shootout, which is being investigated by Reno police. Four Carson City sheriff’s deputies and three Nevada state troopers were placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of that probe.
The Nevada Highway Patrol, Washoe County and Carson City deputies continue to investigate the killing of two women and wounding of a man at the Washoe Valley home. No names have been released.
