(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Danny Wadsworth, shot and killed in an encounter with Metro Police last week, took his own life, according to Undersheriff Jim Dixon, who briefed reporters Thursday n the incident.

The 31 year old Wadsworth was being sought in a purse snatching at Town Square. Police began a chase of Wadsworth, tracking the cell phone of the purse snatching victim, but called off their chase for safety concerns.

But Wadsworth was spotted later on Sahara west of the Strip. Police said Wadsworth failed to obey commands, pulled a gun and began firing. Two Metro Officers were later placed on routine paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
