(Las Vegas, NV) —  The University of Nevada Las Vegas could someday include a med school. The dreams is moving closer to reality.

Dr. Barbara Atkinson is now the planning dean for the UNLV School of Medicine. She tells The Las Vegas Morning News she wouldn’t be here if she wasn’t convinced it will happen and everything is aligned to “do it right.”

The dean says it will take lawmakers, regents,  accreditation and local philanthropists to make it happen.

Dr. Atkinson says the goal is  to have a first class of 60 in 2017. Then in a few years grow that to as many as 180 students.
