LAS VEGAS, NV – A season-record 16,030 fans packed the Thomas & Mack Center hoping for an upset win over San Diego State that never came.

With just over three minutes remaining, the Aztecs held a two-point lead. A couple of misses from the free throw line by Khem Birch seemed to sway permanent momentum to the opposition as UNLV was outscored 9-2 down the stretch in the 73-64 loss.

Birch ended the night with 16 points and 10 rebounds on a night UNLV men’s basketball fans bid farewell to outgoing seniors Kevin Olekaibe and Carlos Lopez-Sosa.

The Runnin’ Rebels have one more game at UNR on Saturday that will decide who ends up with the 3rd seed in next week’s Mountain West Tournament.
