(Las Vegas, NV) – If you are one of the hundreds of people hoping to adopt one of the 27 dogs rescued from the arson pet shop fire, now is your chance.  The Animal Foundation has officially announced they will raffle off the dogs.

According to Animal Foundation Executive Director Christine Robinson, an online raffle will open on Friday, March 7th to all interested parties.  Each raffle ticket will cost $250 and is non-refundable.

“As part of the raffle ticket purchase, entrants would be required to submit an adoption application.  The winning entrant would also be required to pass an in-person adoption screening before the adoption is finalized, ” explained Robinson to county commissioners.

It is unclear, at this point, how many people are expected to participate in the raffle.

However, because interest has been so high, the Animal Foundation is limiting one adoption per household.

“Since this story broke in January, we have received hundreds of calls, emails and messages from interested adopters,” said Robinson. “We want to allow everyone interested in adopting one of these dogs, the opportunity to adopt. A raffle process is the best way to guarantee everyone receives a chance.”

If you don’t win through the raffle process, your ticket is considered a receipt, good through the end of the year for one animal adoption at the shelter.  The Animal Foundation says the money raised through this process will go towards their life-saving and life changing programs.

The online raffle will close on Thursday, March 13th.  Winners will be picked at random and notified on March 14th.

Gloria Lee’s estranged husband and minority owner Donald Thompson did try to reclaim ownership of the dogs but was unsuccessful.  He wanted to give the dogs to local rescue group A Home 4 Spot.  Gloria Lee is currently in jail for her alleged role in the arson case.  She and co-conspirator Kirk Bills face 31 counts each, including arson, burglary and attempted animal cruelty.  Investigators say the two worked together to set the pet shop on fire, while the puppies were inside of the store.

The puppies survived the fire thanks to the working sprinkler system and firefighters.
