Wranglers Earn Split With Steelheads
LAS VEGAS, NV – It was “Super Hero” night at the Orleans Arena Saturday night as the Las Vegas Wranglers, donning Spiderman-themed jerseys, triumphed over the Idaho Steelheads 3-1.
Travis Fullerton was magnificent in goal stopping 30 shots in the win. Las Vegas struck first just 4:40 into the game and took a 2-0 lead to the third period. The Steelheads cut that in half less than a minute in to the final frame but never got closer as John Armstrong scored into an empty net with 36 seconds left. Las Vegas outshot Idaho 37-31 on the night.
All game-worn specialty jerseys were auctioned off after the game with proceeds benefiting Children’s Hospital of Nevada at UMC.
Despite rallying to tie Friday night’s game three times, the Wranglers came up short against the Steelheads dropping the opener of a five-game series 5-3. The two teams play their next three in Idaho beginning Wednesday night.
