Sands Sites Shutdown: Day 4

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Websites for casino giant Las Vegas Sands Corp. remained down for a fourth day while company and federal investigators trace the origin and effect of a hacking intrusion.

Company spokesman Ron Reese said Friday the Internet sites of properties including the flagship Venetian and Palazzo in Las Vegas remained inoperative.

Sands took down websites for its Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Singapore and Macau resorts on Tuesday morning, leaving a checkerboard photo display of property names and phone numbers and a website-maintenance message.

The U.S. Secret Service, FBI and Nevada casino regulators are among agencies investigating, amid reports that company email and employee work computers were also affected.

Social Security information for Sands employees in Bethlehem, Pa., was posted at one point on company sites.

Officials say the culprits remain unknown.
