HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (CBS Las Vegas) – If you were hoping to follow George Clooney on Twitter…he has some disappointing news.

The famed actor says he will never use social media, reports CNet.

“Just because I like to have a drink at night, I could easily say something stupid, and I also don’t think you need to be that available,” Clooney told Variety. “I don’t see Matt (Damon) or Brad (Pitt) or myself wanting to get our thoughts out in a 140-character-thing at 3 in the morning.”

Last year he mocked Ashton Kutcher for tweeting that Penn State coach Joe Paterno should be left out of the then brewing sexual abuse scandal.

He said if Kutcher had used his brain for another 15 minutes he would have thought better of the tweet.

Famous people just shouldn’t tweet, Clooney warns, because a hasty comment might inadvertently offending fans or make them seem like a jerk.

Clooney will make his views known the old fashioned way…through the seemingly limitless number of news channels, magazines and web sites devoted to following a celebrity’s every move.
