No Bail for Nellis Airman In Wife’s Killing
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — A judge in North Las Vegas ordered a 32-year-old airman held without bail to await the filing of a murder charge in the slaying of his wife at their home at Nellis Air Force Base.
Rickey L. Massey Jr. said nothing and was not represented by an attorney during a brief videoconference appearance Tuesday from the Clark County jail.
Justice of the Peace Natalie Tyrrell says prosecutors have a week to file criminal charges. Police allege that Massey killed 34-year-old Theresa Rivera on Friday at a home at the air base.
The Clark County coroner says Rivera asphyxiated. Her death was ruled a homicide.
A base spokeswoman says Massey is a technical sergeant. Police say Rivera and Massey argued at home hours before her body was found.
