CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Preliminary tests indicate a white powdery substance sent to the Nevada Supreme Court is not hazardous.

Carson City Detective Doug Speegle says the powder found in an envelope about 12:45 Thursday afternoon and came with a note indicating it was anthrax.

Speegle says the package was not addressed to any particular justice. It wasn’t immediately clear if there was a return address.

The building was evacuated, but the fire department gave the all clear at about 3:30 p.m.

The two clerks who were in the office where the powder was found were taken to a separate room, but Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi says they haven’t shown adverse symptoms.

About 160 people work in the building.
