(  Las Vegas, NV ) – In her  “State Of The City” address Thursday evening, Las Vegas Mayor Caroloyn Goodman said the economy here is improving.

After she and her predecessor, husband Oscar Goodman, spent years focusing on growing the downtown part of the city, she says it’s paying off.

She also talked about the serious injury to son, 42-year-old local Judge Eric Goodman, found unconscious in a local park in mid-December, telling reporters that within a half hour of his arrival at the hospital, part of his skull was removed. She says she’s not so much concerned about how the injury happened, but that her son is on the road to recovery

The nearly hourlong speech included many in the audience with their faces in their smartphones, texting and tweeting – which was not only encouraged,  the social media comments were scrolled on the big screens in City Hall even as the speech was in progress.
