(Carson City, NV) — Traffic deaths were down across Nevada last year.
The state Department of Public Safety says there were 259 fatalities in 2013, three fewer than the year before.
In Clark County, 183 traffic deaths were reported last year, eleven more than in 2012. Officials say accident deaths involving bicycles rose 150 percent. Pedestrian deaths increased to 51, up from 43 in 2012 .
Statewide, annual traffic fatalities have generally trended down after reaching an all-time high of 432 in 2006. They hope to cut Nevada’s annual death toll in half by 2030.
