WOODLAND, Utah (AP) — A 10-year-old boy was killed in an accident while on a snowmobile outing with his father in Wasatch County.
Utah State Parks Department spokesman Eugene Swalberg says the boy was driving the snowmobile with his father as a passenger when the accident occurred Friday morning near Woodland.
He says excessive speed seems to have been a factor in the crash near the Nobletts Trailhead area.
Authorities say the father and son were thrown after the snowmobile went out of control and rolled. Both were wearing helmets.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The father was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital, where he was treated for a possible broken arm and other injuries.
Their names were not immediately released.
