(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–The arraignment of a man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13 year old girl in Las Vegas was delayed Wednesday because the defendant has run out of money to pay for a lawyer.
Richazrd Schlacta now has a public defender, but his new lawyer needs time before a plea will be entered.
The case goes back to court December 11th. Schlacta remains jailed on a million dollar bail.
He is accused of holding a knife to the student and sexually assaulting her near Woodbury Middle School during the first week of classes in late August. The girl was locking her bicycle, preparing to catch a bus to another school. The incident occurred between buildings at the school. Schlacta was apprehended a short distance away later and his car was found at the school.
