(KXNT)–OJ Simpson’s bid for a re-trial has been rejected.
Simpson asked for a new trial in the robbery and kidnapping case stemming from a Palace Station hotel room ncident in 2007. Simpson is serving a 9 to 33 year term in Nevada. The re-trial hearings were conducted over several days in Las Vegas earlier this year.
Judge Linda Marie Bell rejected all 22 grounds for a new trial, saying Simpson did not demonstrate his lawyer was incompetenet or had a conflict of interest. She ruled that evidence was not withheld from the defense and that any trial error would not disqualify the validity of his conviction.
Simpson’s attorney Patricia Palm was still leading through the 120+ page ruling when reached by KXNT Tuesday evening. “All I have to say right now is that we are extremely disappointed and shocked by the outcome”, she said.
She added that she had not been able to speak with Simpson, unable to get through to Lovelock prison.
Simpson, now 65, will be at least 70 years old before he is eligible for parole.
