( Las Vegas, NV ) – A Las Vegas Metro Police officer-involved shooting on the valley’s eastside Monday night sends a man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say the officer thought a man at the 7-11 at Nellis and Stewart around 10:30pm matched the description of the suspect from a double-murder in the area this past weekend.

The officer asked the man to raise his arms but Deputy Chief Al Salinas says that the man hid his right hand making the officer feel threatened. The man, who turned out to be unarmed, was taken to the hospital after being shot in the stomach.

The unidentified officer is on paid administrative leave.
