(Las Vegas, NV)  —  A local urologist has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly telling staffers to reuse needle guides.

Dr. Michael Kaplan will be arraigned next Thursday.

The indictment claims Kaplan put patients at risk by reusing the sheaths for biopsies at his Las Vegas and Henderson clinics.

His medical license was briefly suspended, but later reinstated with conditions.

Health officials say patients were urged to get tested for HIV and hepatitis.

No positive cases were reported.
