(HENDERSON, Nev., KXNT) A police report and affadavit provides new details in the stabbing murders of a Henderson woman and her 9 year old son, as police search for the woman’s 16 year old, now described as the suspect in the murders.
The coroner’s office identified the victims as 40 year old Elvia Canales and 9 year old Cesar Navarro. Their bodies were found Friday in the Eastern Avenue apartment. They had been stabbed to death.
16 year old Adrian Navarro is being sought.
Navarro is described as a Hispanic male, 5’7″ to 5’9″ in height, 165-175 pounds, with black hair often worn in a spike, and with a fake ‘Z’ tattoo on his forehead.
A police report and affadavit states that Canales and the younger boy were found in a bathroom of the apartment and that a knife was found in the center of Canales’ chest.
Police believe the two were killed sometime during the late afternoon hours of last Tuesday, September 17. The police report states there was a small family celebration of Adrian’s birthday the previous day and that Adrian had been residing in the apartment after the killings. There were several welfare checks made by authorities at the apartment, but there was no answer and police did not return to enter the apartment until Friday.
The police report quotes a relative as saying that Adrian had not been attending high school since last Fall, and that he had expressed an interest in going to Mexico.
