LAS VEGAS (AP) — Anti-war protesters turned out for weekend rallies in Las Vegas and Reno against American military involvement in Syria.

A Saturday demonstration in Las Vegas drew some 150 protesters, up from about 75 at a similar rally the week before.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Saturday’s rally included more “baby boomers” who also protested against the Vietnam War in the 1960s.

Demonstrators who gathered on the Tropicana Avenue overpass above Interstate 15 taped a sign reading, “Honk for Peace,” and many motorists honked in support.

Meanwhile, a four-hour demonstration at the downtown Reno City Plaza attracted dozens of protesters Saturday.

KTVN-TV reports they lined the sidewalks along Virginia Street with signs and some even marked their bodies with messages.

Some protesters also passed out reading material to drivers stopped at a nearby traffic light.

Similar rallies were held across the nation over the weekend.

President Barack Obama will give an address Tuesday on the situation in Syria. Last month’s deadly sarin gas attack on civilians linked to Syrian President Bashar Assad has prompted the president’s call for military action.
