DUI Arrest In Crash That Killed Police Explorer
LAS VEGAS (AP KXNT) – Las Vegas police have arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of DUI after a hit-and-run crash that killed a teenage motorcyclist. Metro Police say LVMPD Explorer Angel Velasquez was riding his 2013 Honda east on East Sahara Avenue near South Van Patten Street. A 2013 Volkswagen turning west onto Sahara caused the motorcyclist to go into a slide, and the motorcycle hit the Volkswagen.
Velasquez was later taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the man driving the Volkswagen left the scene without helping the 18-year-old motorcyclist, who was taken to Sunrise Hospital and later pronounced dead.
The Volkswagen driver, Jvon Williams, was found at a home and arrested.
Arrangements have been announced for Angel Velasquez.
On Tuesday, August 6th, there will be a viewing from 3p-7p at Palm Mortuary at 1325 North Main.
On Wednesday, a funeral will be held at 12:30p at Trinity Life Church at 1000 East St. Louids Avenue..
Burial will be following the funeral at 6701 North Jones, with a Candlelight Vigil at 8p that evening at Sahara and Van Patten Street.
