Las Vegas – 51s second baseman Jordany Valdespin has been named the Pacific Coast League’s Player of the Week.

Valdespin had a productive week at the plate, batting .550 with 11 hits, six walks and a league leading 10 RBI in six games. He also scored seven runs and totaled 19 bases while accumulating five extra-base hits, including three doubles, one triple and a home run.

Valdespin’s hot bat helped the 51s to a 6-1 record during the week and consequently a two-game lead over Sacramento in the Pacific Southern Division. Since being optioned to Las Vegas by the New York Mets on July 13th, Valdespin has hit .500 with 22 hits, two home runs and 21 RBI in just 11 games with the 51s.
