(LAS VEGAS, KXNT)–Clark County has begun mailing property tax notices an an estimated 729,000 property owners.

The county says taxes for the firscal year are due the third Monday of August, but anyone with a bill exceeding $100 can pay them in installments. The first us due by August 19. Subsequent installment due dates are October 7, January 6 of 2014, and March 3 of 2014.

Anyone who has not received their tax bill by August 1st is urged to call the County Treasurer’s office (702-455-4323) The office reminds taxpayers they are obligated to pay the tax on time, whether or not they received a tax bill.

The county says taxes levied on all real property in Clark County for the 2013-2014 fiscal year totals just over $1.4 billion. The figure is down slightly compared to a year ago.

Property taxes are distributed monthly to various governmental entities that levy taxes, including the state, the school district, the county itself, cities libraries and other taxing districts.

The county has established a 24-hour automated information system for taxpayers to check the status of their property taxes at any time: 702-455-4323.
