No Major Fires In Las Vegas On Fourth Of July

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas firefighters say one person is injured after a firework exploded in their face, but no major building fires were reported during the Fourth of July.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials say dispatchers responded to 412 incidents in the city, which is nearly twice as many calls as on a normal day. They say most fire calls involved grass, brush or trees, including palm trees that caught fire by fireworks.

Officials say none of the fires caused injuries or displaced people from their homes.

Paramedics took one person to the hospital after the firework explosion.

Dispatchers who cover Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and unincorporated Clark County say they fielded more than 1,000 calls total, which is up about 300 from a normal day.
