LAS VEGAS (AP) — Miss Carson City Diana Sweeney has been crowned Miss Nevada.

She advances to the Miss America pageant on Sept. 15 in Atlantic City, N.J., after winning the state pageant Saturday night in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the 19-year-old from Mound House attends the University of Nevada, Reno, where she’s working on a dual major in math and education.

Her talent was lyrical dance and her platform was “Sexual Assault — No Means No.” She was sexually assaulted by a family friend when she was 14 years old.

UNLV graduate Randi Sundquist, the departing 2012 Miss Nevada, presented the crown to Sweeney.
