RENO, Nev. (AP) — A man was shot and killed Friday in south Reno by two Washoe County sheriff’s deputies.

The deputies responded to a Scorpio Circle home after a man reported that a suspicious male was on his property and trying to force entry into his residence.

Reno police say the deputies found a man matching the description when they arrived about 4:30 a.m. and were involved in a shooting.

There were no injuries to the deputies, but the man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police say no further details will be released until completion of a preliminary review.

The two deputies were placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of a multi-agency investigation headed by Reno police.

The district attorney’s office will determine whether the shooting was justified.
