AARP Has Social Media on Front Burner
Las Vegas CBS KXNT – If you envision the American Association of Retired Persons as a stodgy old organization, take note. AARP employs nine social media managers, and one full-time social media trainer.
This weekend’s AARP expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center featured Facebook training, iPad seminars, and a technology pavilion equipped with a variety of handheld and laptop devices. AARP employees staffed the area to answer questions, and to help social media skeptics and technophobes get up to speed.
For those with a career crisis, AARP has built an online platform called Life Reimagined. It guides the user through a self-assessment, and links people who have similar goals, or expertise in a given area.
Ten thousand members from across the nation attended the Life@50+ conference, an AARP spokesman said.
