LAS VEGAS (AP) — Southern Nevada law enforcement officers who died on duty since 1905 are going to be remembered at a twilight ceremony involving family members and friends at a commemorative site in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas police community affairs specialist Jennifer Knight says 31 officers who died in the line of duty will be remembered at the 7 p.m. Thursday ceremony at the Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial off Metro Academy Way in northwest Las Vegas.
There’ve been no line-of-duty deaths in the local law enforcement this year.
Agencies taking part include the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas police; Nevada Department of Corrections; Nye County Sheriff’s Office; Union Pacific Railroad; and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and U.S. Marshal Service.
