Vegas Man Dies After Car Hits Motorized Wheelchair

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 56-year-old Las Vegas man is dead after driving his motorized wheelchair into the path of a car.

Police say the crash happened just before 11 a.m. Monday on Flamingo Road west of Duneville Street.

Authorities say the wheelchair rider was trying to cross Flamingo Road when he was struck by a Chrysler 300 driven by a California man.

The wheelchair rider was taken to University Medical Center and died of his injuries about six hours later. His name has not yet been released.

The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.

The crash marks the 41st traffic-related death this year in Las Vegas police jurisdiction.
